As Princ ipal of Rowland+Broughton, Sarah brings over two decades of experience in t he architecture and interior design industry. She is the champion of R+B’s design philosophy and rigorous quality control standards, as well as a lead er to her design staff. In addition, she is a highly respected colleague in the design community and among clients.
Sarah leads the studios in p articipation and management of all phases of the design process, including client relations and proposals, project programming, conceptual design, des ign development, architecture and interior design, project budgeting, const ruction documentation and contract administration. Sarah is very active in the Aspen community and has served as Chair of the City of Aspen’s Historic Preservation Commission. Hired to rewrite the Aspen Commercial Design Guid elines, R+B frequently provides feedback to the City of Aspen on land use r egulation.
R+B has been the recipient of several City of Aspen Histor ic Preservation Commission Awards and numerous AIA, ASID and IIDA awards fo r excellence in design. The team is especially proud to have won AIA Colora do’s 2009 Young Firm of the Year. R+B is also annually recognized for firm achievement on Interior Design magazine’s Top Hospitality Design and Interi or Design Giants lists. Sarah was awarded the Defy Ordinary award from the City of Aspen Chamber and the Aspen community. This award recognizes Sarah as a champion of the community and a leader to her colleagues.

Elena exc els at creating a thoughtful planning framework that results in creative so lutions, which are practical to implement. Her deep experience with land pl anning, entitlements, the approval process and public engagement is key to achieving success.
As the Principal of Norris Design’s mountain regio n office in Frisco, Colorado, Elena is skilled at facilitating community en gagement processes and integrating development into sensitive natural envir onments. She is experienced in planning and implementation of affordable ho using initiatives, infill and redevelopment, downtown revitalization, resor t and hospitality and the incorporation of sustainable design practices. El ena is on the High Country Conservation Center Stakeholder Sustainability C ode Committee and is the current Chair for the ULI Colorado Resort Entertai nment Tourism & Leisure (RETL) Product Council.
