Chris has worked as an Economist for the State Demography Office in the Department of Local Affairs (DOLA) since 2015. Mr. Akers produces base in dustry analysis, employment estimates and a long-term job forecast for Colo rado and all 64 counties within the state. Chris also works with county and local governments helping them identify economic drivers and utilize econo mic and demographic data and forecasts. Before joining DOLA, he worked ten years as a Statistical Analyst with Colorado State Demography Office, Depa rtment of Local Affairs Labor Market Information (LMI) in the Colorado Depa rtment of Labor and Employment, where he produced an array of employment an d wage data. He was a Crew Leader with Census 2000. Chris received hi s BA in Economics from Vanderbilt University. | ||

He provides insight into the economy and what it implies for const ruction and related industries through frequent media interviews, presentat ions and the Data DIGest, his weekly one-page e-newsletter that goes to ove r 50,000 subscribers. Ken has more than 40 years of experience analyz ing, advocating and communicating about economic and tax issues. He c urrently serves as liaison to the Census Bureau’s Construction Data Moderni zation Working Group. He is a Fellow and past president of the National As sociation for Business Economics, and he is co-director of the Tax Economis ts Forum, a professional meeting group he co-founded in 1982. Ken has a BA in economics from the University of Chicago, and an MA in economics f rom Northwestern University. |
