As marketers, we’re often asked to complete impossible projects on even more impossible schedules. There’s nothing a marketer can’t do—although there is one word that marketers are apparently not allowed to say:

No.

In this session, we’ll discuss the importance of saying no, the pitfalls of saying no too frequently, and multiple ways you can say no without using the dreaded “N-O” word.

SMPS 2022 Chapter President of the Year and former SMPS DC Chapter President, Jen McGovern, CPSM, will share real-life examples learned from a career as a marketing manager, where the frequent use of the word “no” gained the support of the marketing team, but nearly lost Jen her standing at the firm.

Speaker:

Jen McGovern, CPSM
Mid-Atlantic Regional Marketing Manager
VHB

Jen McGovern, CPSM, is the Mid-Atlantic Regional Marketing Manager for VHB in Tysons, VA. With extensive editing, writing, and marketing experience, she fell into the AEC industry in 2012 and found a passion for proposals and infrastructure projects. Jen is SMPS 2022 Chapter President of the Year and former SMPS DC Chapter President. She achieved her CPSM certification in 2015.
