Have you wondered what a path to marketing/business development leadership looks like in the A/E/C industry?

Join us  for breakfast, coffee, and a chance to talk with some of Colorado's foremost marketing and business development leaders, including Bob Trout, CPSM (RGTroutConsulting), Michelle Ott, CPSM (JE Dunn), Molly Cape, CPSM (MTech Mechanical), and Rebecca Lavezzary (TreanorHL), and learn more about their unique experiences and paths to leadership positions within their respective firms.

This is a limited attendance event, so make sure to sign up before spots fill up!

Agenda:
Please arrive promptly at 8:00am to get checked in and enjoy breakfast burritos and coffee before we start the program at 8:30.

Bob Trout, CPSM


Bob “semi-retired” in January of 2019. Currently consulting for local and national AEC firms providing business development, proposal, and marketing support. Before that he was a Merrick & Company Vice President and the Business Development lead for the firm’s Nuclear Services and Technology team, a business unit at Merrick that focused on the design of nuclear equipment, systems and facilities for government and private clients.  Bob had a career of 22 years with Merrick, starting in 1997. He held the position of VP for business development for Merrick’s vertical markets (nuclear facilities, laboratories, and defense facilities) from 2014-2018. He also managed the firm’s Central Marketing Services Group from 1998-2005.  Prior to coming to Merrick Bob was with MSE-Technology, Inc, Butte, MT, starting as a consulting biologist in 1980 and ending as a business development and marketing manager in 1997.  He has been very active in SMPS activities since becoming a member in 1992 (member of the SLC Chapter), having served as SMPS Colorado President (2001-2002), SMPS National CPSM Committee (1998-2003), SMPS Colorado Sponsorship Chair (2002-2004), SMPS Colorado Program Chair (2004-2005) and has served as a member of multiple committees for SMPS Colorado, including the Education, Sponsorship, and Programs committees. He spent three years in a leadership position for the Chapter’s One2One Mentor-Protégé program. He is active in the Past Presidents and Leonardo’s seasoned marketer’s forum. Bob was awarded the SMPS Colorado Leonardo Award in 2005 and produced 4 ACEC Engineering Excellence Award winners, once taking the ACEC Colorado Grand Conceptor Award.

Michelle Ott, CPSM


Michelle began her career in the industry at a Denver based interior architecture firm in 1997, while completing her BS in Management at the Metropolitan State University of Denver. She later joined JE Dunn Construction in 2002 as their first Colorado based Marketing Coordinator and is now the Marketing Director for the West Region of JE Dunn, overseeing marketing efforts in Denver, Colorado Springs, Portland, Santa Clara, and Phoenix. Her responsibilities range from marketing staff development to pursuit strategy planning and execution. Michelle is a CPSM and a long-standing member of the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS) being recognized as the 2015 SMPS Colorado Member of the Year.  She has held various roles within SMPS Colorado including serving as Membership Chair, Director at Large, and SMPS Colorado President for the 2018-2019 term. Michelle is currently completing her MBA at the University of Colorado Denver.

Molly Cape, CPSM


Molly Cape is the current Marketing Manager at MTech Mechanical where she has been a team member for over 8 years. She currently oversees all things marketing & communications, from brand guidelines to project proposals to internal communications, no two days are the same. Previously with backgrounds in public relations, retail management and non-profit communications, Molly understands what it takes to identify, anticipate, and satisfy client objectives to achieve profitable business goals.

Outside of MTech, Molly enjoys traveling frequently with her husband Derrick to cross the National Parks off their list and is getting stir crazy to visit some international destinations post-COVID.

Rebecca Lavezzary


As Chief Marketing Officer for TreanorHL, Rebecca is part of the Management Team, primarily responsible for collaborating with the firm’s partners on strategic planning and leading a team of 10 marketers. She has over 20 years of experience marketing in the A/E/C industry at architecture and engineering firms. Rebecca spent her formative years in Colorado and New Mexico before relocating to New York City after graduating from Colorado State University. She spent seven fast-paced years on the East Coast before returning to her more laid-back Colorado roots in search of a better work-life balance and a nice place to raise her family. Rebecca’s recent focus on implementing a Doer-Seller training program at TreanorHL has guided the firm’s focus on nurturing lasting client relationships. She is passionate about helping communities explore the extraordinary to design the world we want to live in. Rebecca has served on various SMPS committees and boards throughout her career, is a past president of SMPS Colorado, and currently serves as Treasurer on the Southwest Regional Conference Board.
